With a practice of more than 20,000 patients, Dr. Jordan Metzl is widely known for his passion for sports medicine and fitness. He received his MD from the University of Missouri, completed his residency at Tufts University, and completed fellowships at Vanderbilt University in Adult Sports Medicine and at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital, in Adolescent Sports Medicine. (I was fortunate to do a Post-Doc there under T. Berry Brazelton in Neurodevelopmental Behavioral Pediatrics, and it is a wonderful training site.) Dr. Metzl’s academic appointments are as an Associate Attending Physician and Associate Attending Pediatrician at the Hospital for Special Surgery. (Which I consider to be the premier orthopedic surgery center in the United States.)

In addition to his busy medical practices in New York City and Stamford, Connecticut, Dr. Metzl is the author of the bestselling titles Running Strong, The Exercise Cure, and Athlete’s Book of Home Remedies, and has also authored three other books including The Young Athlete. He serves as the medical columnist for Triathlete Magazine.
